Four Scrum Things to Focus on at Christmas
Dear Scrum Enthusiasts,
Wishing you and your team a Merry Christmas!
This time of year is perfect for reflection, planning, connecting, and delivering value to others—concepts that align closely with the Scrum mindset.
Here are Four Scrum Things to Focus on at Christmas:
REFLECTION
Just as a Sprint Retrospective helps us inspect and adapt, the Christmas season invites us to look back on the year.
What value have you delivered to your team, stakeholders, or yourself?
Identify what went well and where improvements are needed.
Reflect on your achievements and the support from your team, and take a moment to acknowledge those who helped you along the way.
I’m particularly thankful for people like you—individuals committed to learning, growth, and agility. Your connection and support matter, and I deeply appreciate it!
PROJECTION
The Product Backlog represents opportunities, and this is the perfect time to refine yours for the year ahead.
What personal and professional goals can you set?
Perhaps it’s earning a Scrum certification, improving facilitation skills, or increasing team effectiveness. Think about the next increment of value you want to deliver and create a clear plan to move forward.
CONNECTION
Scrum emphasizes collaboration, and the same is true for this season. Use this time to strengthen relationships with your team, stakeholders, family, and friends.
Is it a quick message, a call, or an in-person meeting?
Meaningful connections foster trust and better collaboration.
COMPASSION
Scrum is about delivering value, and the holidays remind us to extend that value to those who need it most.
Find ways to contribute to someone’s life—mentor a colleague and support a team member.
What can you give back to your community?
Even small acts can have a meaningful impact.
As we close the year, I hope you find joy in reflecting on your accomplishments, excitement in planning your future goals, and fulfillment in connecting with others.
From my heart to yours, Merry Christmas, and here’s to an agile and rewarding New Year!
Warm regards,
Dejan Majkic
